The Fort Mill Community Playhouse presented our original two-act musical, “Bandstand Tales”, based on the history of our town, in the spring of 2006.
An updated version, Bandstand Tales II, was presented in May 2007, with a full house every night.
Bandstand Tales opens sometime in the late 1950s as a group of Fort Mill men congregated on the bandstand discuss the early days of the town.
Their tales lead us from the mid 1760s when the Catawbas welcomed the first European settler, Thomas Kanawha Spratt, to the fight for independence, the War Between the States and beyond.
Along the way, we watch members of the Suzy Q Club as they dance the night away at Nims Lake Pavilion and met some of Fort Mill's more colorful characters gathered at J.B. Mills' Store.
Tonight you'll observe a cavalcade of the courageous men and women who built Fort Mill: the dreamers, the jokesters, the heros, and the children they nourished who were lucky enough to grow up here.
Today YOU are a part of this heritage as well, so sit back, relax, and get ready to smile, to laugh, and maybe shed a tear or two...but most of all, prepare to be very, very, proud.
